LEARN HOW I OVERCAME A DECADE OF PORN ADDICTION

I WAS THIRTEEN

when I first got broadband internet at my house. And I just hit puberty, which was a perfect combination. It probably took only a month until I was masturbating to porn every day. There were even days when I stayed up so late watching porn that I’d be late for school. I couldn’t focus in class, got bad grades and felt like a zombie the days after jacking off.

It wasn’t long until my secret life started bleeding out into my real life. The breaking point came when my college girlfriend found a shocking amount (to her) of porn on my computer that I forgot to clear from my web history. Although she didn’t break up with me right away, she couldn’t see me the same way again. The relationship just went downhill pretty fast with trust issues and insecurities about her self image.

I realized that porn addiction doesn’t just affect me, but also the people I care about. That’s when I made a firm decision to do everything I can to break my porn addiction. I tried every product out there and did tons of research. It took me months until a huge epiphany came to me:

WILLPOWER IS NOT THE KEY. ALMOST ALL ADDICTS TRY TO QUIT PORN COLD TURKEY AND FAIL. A STEP-BY-STEP MENTAL RECONDITIONING SYSTEM IS MOST EFFECTIVE.

-- Marc Vaughn --

It dawned on me that relying on willpower never worked. The cycle would go like this: 1) Promise myself to never watch porn again 2) Quit for days at a time 3) End up running out of willpower and bingeing on porn. Over and over and over again.

Then I wondered – what if there’s a system that could help me quit porn regardless of how much willpower I have? Porn addiction didn’t happen to me in one day, but over time through bad habits that cumulated in real addiction. Surely I won’t get over porn in one day, BUT I can establish new habits and behavioral patterns that can overwrite my brain with new rules. This was the gamechanger.

YOU NEED A SYSTEM

So I began experimenting with different strategies. Along this crazy journey, I learned what is and isn’t effective against porn addiction:

Building a healthy system of lifestyle habits
Re-conditioning the mind from hardcore porn -> softcore porn -> no porn
Using a support and accountability system
Relying on willpower

I transformed from someone who needed hardcore porn just to get off, to being able to ejaculate just by fantasizing about girls I met in real life. Best of all, the time I saved from not watching porn went to actually have a pretty good sex life. Like a normal goddamn human being.

In the end, the mental reconditioning system saved me. It slowly helps the body and brain reverse the patterns of porn addiction. It is at the core of Reboot, my program that has helped hundreds of people literally rewire their brains back to health.

What our Readers say

  • Marc’s approach is really gentle (albeit maybe a bit counter-intuitive to what you think it should be) and helps you get off slowly. I kept hitting a wall with most methods that just expected pure abstinence and for you to whitenuckle it through any cravings. This way just feels way better and i can see my porn use and desires decreasing every week. He responds to every email too which is so nice!

  • Marc’s guide helped me finally beat years of porn addiction. It’s nice that he doesn’t shove any religion down your throat. This is a progressive approach that makes sense.
